Abstruse

(1) An inferential arroyo is used to study secondary succession in tropical forest fallows during their get-go ten years and in comparison with mature wood. (2) 1- and three-yr-old fallows were dominated past microphanerophytes which were replaced, mainly past mesophanerophytes, by the tenth yr. (three) Vegetation comprehend and tree size increased throughout the succession; but tree density increased for nearly seven years only. (4) Species diversity, the number of all species and of tree species, also increased throughout, but species variety and the full number of species tended to stabilize most the 7th twelvemonth due to competitive elimination. (five) Ordination past principal components analysis revealed that mature wood was floristically distinct from fallows upwardly to 10 years old and that fallows themselves had an age sequence.
